The Giver Summary

The Giver by Lois Lowry shows how a boy can change the whole course of the community. The book is about numerous things but mainly about young Jonas’ assignment. At the beginning of the book a wild plane flies right over their heads Later it says he was RELEASED. Next Jonas tells us about something called an assignment and he is terrified of it. Later Jonas has what is said to be a stirring so he is forced to take pills to stop it. Soon after Jonas receives the assignment of the receiver of memory After the ceremony Jonas meets the old receiver or now The GIver. He gives Jonas lots of happy memories. But soon enough he gets bad memories of war. That strikes sorrow, grief, and fear. One day Jonas asked about the previous receiver who failed. She turned out to be The Giver’s daughter. A while after Jonas asks what release is so The Giver shows him and Jonas is horrified he discovers it kills the person. Later that evening Jonas makes an escape plan. So one night he sets out on a journey to elsewhere. It took him almost 4 weeks, he battled the elements. Until he finally reached the mountain to elsewhere he tried to climb it but died on the way down. In the end all memories got put back in the community.
